Meet Hop Hideout

Kelham Island is beer capital and it wouldn't be Ball Street Deli if beer wasn't an option. Hop Hideout are one of Sheffield's most celebrated off licenses but they aren't your typical offie. You won't find a can of Stella here...

We're excited to see what they'll bring.

Please can you introduce yourselves...

Hop Hideout is a specialist, award-winning, craft beer and cider shop established in 2013 by Jules and Will. Dedicated to showcasing local breweries from Yorkshire and beyond. With over 350+ beers, a quality hand-picked selection of ciders and 5 draught taps (offering drink in and growler fills). Expect to find local favourites Abbeydale and Thornbridge next to quality breweries such as Huddersfield's Magic Rock Brewing and progressive Danish experimentalists Mikkeller. In addition to sought after international breweries like Evil Twin Brewing, Burial and Omnipollo. Hop Hideout specialise in 'sour' style beers and you can find many Belgian Lambic and Geuze in addition to wild ales and kettle-sours at the shop. Hop Hideout is a neighbourhood beer shop with a friendly and welcoming vibe; always happy to chat beer!

What will you be bringing to Ball Street Deli?

Hop Hideout will be bringing a selection of gift-wrapped beer, cider and spirits in addition to beery gifts such as books and glasses. We'll also have a cheeky selection of cold craft beer cans available to drink in at Ball Street Deli.

Why do you love Kelham Island?

We love the ale trails and great beer pubs in the area of Kelham. When we're not working you'll find us sampling a few beers! It's called research....

What has been your highlight of 2018?

Winning the Drinks Retailing 2018 Independent Beer Retailer of the Year award back in February. We attended the awards reception at The Dorchester and it was a humbling experience.

What have you asked Santa to get you for Christmas?

A craft beer advent calendar from Hop Hideout ;)
